The Specialized Turbo Levo Expert has been given a complete makeover for 2018, the most noticeable addition is the carbon frame which has improved what was already a well-performing bike, in to a true trail beast. Crafted from a 9M carbon, the chassis of the bike has been significantly improved, offering a 450-gram weight reduction over the standard alloy models. The use of an alloy rear triangle has allowed the carbon features of an S-Works model, at the lower price point. The ultra-short chainstays result in agile handling with a low bottom bracket that makes the bike feel firmly planted on the trail. The new Turbo 1.3 motor provides a 15% increase of power when compared to the older model, which along with a software update, has altered the characteristics of how this bike performs on the trail in an outstanding way. The motor update also provides an increase in efficiency from the powerful 504Wh battery, allowing a full days' worth of exploration, meaning you can go further than ever before, with very little effort. Specialized have also included a bar-mounted controller for 2018 which allows you to change between the 3 different assistance modes, as well as a walk function and an additional button which powers you into the most powerful mode with a single push. The motor system still links back to the popular Mission Control smartphone app and is also compatible with other ANT+ devices. The 2017 Levo Export was a bike of truly outstanding spec, but Specialized have outdone themselves on the 2018 model with the addition of an Öhlins RXF 36, 150mm travel suspension fork, which just adds to the premium feel of this bike. The fork features a single-tube design with ample adjustment that will be sure to meet the standards of all riders wanting to fine-tune their suspension set-up. At the rear there is the trusty RockShox Monarch RT3 which mates with the frame to offer 135mm of travel. The shock also has in-depth tuning capabilities with AUTOSAG, rebound and 3-position compression adjust. The SRAM 11-Speed groupset features an XO1 derailleur with a 10-42t cassette to offer a wide range of gears which help to boost the efficiency of the electric system, as well as provide a smooth and reliable gear set-up. The SRAM system has been designed in the true tradition of their championship winning 1X technology which gets you down the mountain as fast as physically possible with fast and solid shifting. The X01 is the right choice for any terrain, every time. Powerful SRAM Code R hydraulic disc brakes with 200mm discs provide exceptional stopping force to give the rider the confidence to brake that little bit later, with the maximum control possible. These work in perfect harmony with the hand-built Roval Traverse Carbon 27.5 rims and Butcher tyres to create a set-up that is sure to keep you firmly grounded on the trail. Also included on the Expert model is a Command dropper post with internal routing and up to 125mm of travel that gives 12-position micro adjustment. The dropper post has become a must-have for trail riders and offers that extra on-the-fly adjustability to get your downhill times down.
